My pay monthly contract ends on 15 August. I want to stay with O2 but change to a new contract that's on a comparison website. I can't find the same contract deal on the O2 website. Do I need to wait until the 15 August to change or can I go ahead and do that now?

You may be able to just pay off what you owe.

Normally, upgrading on a comparison sitee should take you to the O2 website

From there just make sure you choose upgrade to get the contract at the same price as the comparison site
