During Covid I have been using my lartner's BT broadband connection for work. This week I returned to my own flat where I use a dongle and data SIM (allowance 15GB) for work. My internet stopped working several times and I added 3 bolt ons, but they also ran out very quickly, in a matter of minutes. Help! Does anyone know what might be happening? This has never happened before when I have been using my dongle at my flat.

I have checked my O2 bill and my monthly allowance is renewed tomorrow, but I am concerned that there is an issue I need to sort out.

What is connected to your dongle?

Anything that has just connected, that hasn't been used for a while, may be downloading updates and using data very quickly.

If you are connecting a laptop or PC ensure you set the network connection to "metered" to disable it from downloading large updates.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

During COVID lockdown, the same has happened to me. I have had a new replacement dongle, a new sim card and even put the sim into another device and still not working.  I can only send texts but no data. When I call o2 and explain very politely but being very informative and clear, the agents cut disconnect the call, frustratingly having to call back and go through it all again!   Seeing as I have worked for the main wholesale network provider and understand the process, I believe this is an in house system error.  I even tried to add a bolt onto the said dongle account (even though there was over 20GB remaining) my account will not even allow me to add the bolt on stating Unable to add bolt on, contact your provider??? You are my prvider!!!  I received emails stating I was out of data and when contacting O2 they confirmed I was not out of data.  This is not a device or sim card issue. Seriously I have a another account with o2 but no one seems to want to help. When checking the issue through O2 community other people have said even the staff use another network, is this what you are encouraging? To go elsewhere? Please look into this o2 as this is not good for your reputation.. Help!
