A few days ago I registered for the extra 1GB promotion on International PAYG. It took 6 hours to receive a confirmation text.
Yesterday I topped up and got my usual allowances straight way. I'm still waiting for a confirmation text that I have the extra 1GB allownace. Sending 'Balance' to 20202 or calling 4444 does not mention the 1GB.
How long do I have to wait?
Why do O2's systems take so long to do this?

O2's systems update at midnight or possibly on your anniversary date. Speak to customer service and they can update it straight away. Speak, not live chat.

Thanks for the replies... Text has now arrived with extra 1GB.
But still wonder why you have to wait!!
