Hi guys,

As most of you are aware, we use the "kudos" feature to say thanks or to show that you agree with someone else's post.

We think this feature is very useful for the community, but we understand that some of you really don't like the word "kudos" itself and have asked in the past to change it. We're evaluating this option and would love to hear your suggestions for an alternative word.

Fire away!

Hi guys,

Another way we could go with this is to get rid of the name altogether and simply make a nice big button with a thumbs up symbol that could show the number of times it has been clicked.

What do you think? Would it look too much like facebook?

Sounds good to me Toby.

I don't see the need for the 'kudo' rankings either.

I think it would look like a link to Facebook.

@perksie; Do you think a colour that was far removed from facebook's blue would combat that problem?

@BoB; Would you have any kind of list in its place or get rid of it altogether? Its not the first time I've heard the same suggestion when I've been working on a community. Why would you remove out of interest?

Hi Toby,

I just think its an old remanant of a few forums.

Its also something that has been a victim of abuse too.

Some like it because it shows some form of status and achievement I submit.

If I may interject here, the Kudos system has no meaning to any of the regulars and serves a purpose known only to lithium. You will notice that non of the "regulars" show a kudos count on their badge either. The system is abused (esp at iPhone launch time) by the whole host of new members giving kudos to people who post "why can't I get my 5s NOW" and it completely devalues the system. Solutions authored are a much more accurate way of determining a contributors usefulness, mind you that needs an overhaul too but that's for another thread
