Support pathetic

Anonymous

I am currently in New York and despite being positively assured that my mobile would work... guess what? It doesn't. So now I can't call for support (phone doesn't work remember). Your support pages provide no support email, so that's no use. Your support 'live chatters' have apparently been busy all day 'chatting to other customers' so I'm not given a link to start chatting. Just exactly how am I supposed to get support to fix this!

If it's an old phone it's possibly not triband compatible. As Adam says, maybe a cheap P&G local phone to keep in touch or just enjoy the week and manage without the phone.

In the interim if your phone is unlocked you could use a local sim as a temporary fix so you can at least use your phone.

Thanks for the support guys. It's just so frsutrating that the correct avenues of support simply don't seem to be available. All day it has been saying "All our support team are busy chatting to other customers, please try later" and not even giving a link so I could maybe sit and wait for someone to be available. Maybe it has detected that I'm logging in from outside the UK and so won't give me access to chat.

The problem with the local sim card solution is that I'm only here for a week and it's just not worth going down that route.

Basically I'm just furious that I contacted them before I came out. I have had international roaming enabled for like 15 years but when I came out last year it didn't work. After I contacted them they assured me (repeatedly, as I was doubtful) that it would work this time and now nothing.

don't get me wrong I'm generally very happy with the O2 service but here it has failed me big time.

I'm not sure what else I can say about the technical side of the situation. I was told it would work and it doesn't...

I certainly appreciate your frustration.

The local SIM card was just a thought. slight_smile

I hope you get through quickly so you can get back to enjoying your time there and using your phone and services.

Is roaming turned on to see if data works?

Have you tried cleaning the sim card? Also try selecting a network manually if it's set to auto. Also try switching to 2G rather than 3G. Chat link is in my signature. Hope you get it sorted.

Roaming is turned on. Should be no problem with SIM card - was working fine when I left the UK. Tried to find network on both auto and manual - no network found in both cases.

Phone is an old Samsung (don't know the model but one of those you can drive a lorry over without damaging). The phone may be the problem as it is old - maybe dosen't support the type of network over here. But O2 made no suggestion that this might be an issue.

I tried the chat link, Jonsie, but it didn't work - could only see the first couple of lines of text and then it wouldn't scroll! so anything else I or they typed was invisible!

Oh well, only here for a week; I'll survive.
