Scam Armenia Calls

Not sure if people are aware, but last month I received a call from Armenia and answered it to tell them ‘Go Away’ in not very polite terms. I was charged 3 Pounds for the 5 second privilege.
O2 refunded me which is great, but thought I’d make people aware, as I never knew you could get charged for receiving random calls.

@PompeyYorkBlues Basic rule of thumb - If you don't recognise the number, don't answer the call.

You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.

Thanks MI5. I defo didn’t ring them back. Just answered to shout 2 words at them and got charged. First I’ve ever heard of being charged for answering a call. Cheers for the info though

Never thought that possible either when on your home network @PompeyYorkBlues

@Kei-M_O2 any comment from O2 as to how this is possible?

When I phoned up to notify O2 and ask for the cash back they were great and credited my account, but the guy I spoke to couldn’t explain why or how it happened. Seems bizarre to me, but defo a scam of some sort for sure

Hey @PompeyYorkBlues ,

Thanks for your report - could you do me a favour and private message me your phone number? We'd like to do some traces and see what's actually gone on in the background,

Thanks,

I have a similar issue. Billed for 2 calls to or from Armenia. The bill shows the time and duration of the calls, but not the date, which is strange.

Incoming calls are not charged for when you're using your home network.

Immediately redialling is a common cause of charges in this scenario.
