Ring O2 for iPhone 4. It works!

Okay so after much reading and confusion about how exactly to get an iPhone 4, I assumed that I would just have to sit back and wait for one. I tried ringing all my local O2 stores, ringing carphonewarehouse stores and order line, same with phones4u etc etc.

I thought Id ring O2 upgrades and see what they said. I knew it, "No your average monthly spend is only £42.08, and you need to pay at least £50" Odd I thought, as my contract is £45 a month so how could it be less, but nevertheless I didn't question it.

So I rang back. "No we dont do the early upgrade offer over the phone, has to be instore"

Ring again. "Need to be gold member"

Ring again. "Try instore mate"

...and again "Sure Mr Petch, we'll do that right away"

My only tip is to keep trying. I was planning on making up some story about "was told to ring this number, i was Guaranteed to get an upgrade, speak to your manager, going to cancel" etc etc but there was no need!

Anyway, I hope this helps some!

Jordan.

Grrrrrr 😐 I'm getting annoyed.

I ordered yesterday, granted it was in the afternoon so I expected them to be sold out, but then I've read that some people rang at 8pm last night and received theirs today.

I couldn't get through for aggggees yesterday, it kept saying user busy so I kept dialling continuously and then I got through to the options and put on hold for ages, but I did get through in the end, so just keep trying.

Just tried again. Got a big fat no again.

Why are they letting some people upgrade and others not?

One thing is certain, O2 are treating their customers incredibly poorly with their handling on the iPhone 4 release. I've requested my PAC code and the guy on the phone didn't even try to keep me as a customer.

Also looking into an OFCOM complaint. O2 have been misleading.

I'm certainly not FOS, as you put it. I've spoken with two different people at O2, the first told me I could upgrade but they had no stock, the 2nd took me painlessly through the whole process, and told me I should expect my phone early next week.

I said to CS that people were ringing today and getting orders processed and given a delivery date and she told me that there was no way o2 are doing that because there is no stock and that people are saying it to wind others up!! grin

It is quite annoying though seeing as I rang lunchtime yesterday and I was put on back order and then a few hours later people were ringing, ordering and then got their phones today. Or people that have called up today and have got theirs coming on Monday. :robotsad:

I was very lucky, getting through to someone at about noon today and got it ordered first time. If it helps I didn't ask for the upgrade out right i just politely asked "I tried queuing yesterday, but the store had sold their stock before I got served and I don't want to miss out on the early upgrade offer. Is there anything you can do?". They guy said no worries we'll get it done over the phone instead. Just to reiterate I am a silver priority customer, though have been with o2 for 8 years, so non gold priority customers should still be eligibile to order.

Regarding the lack of stock issue, I've now received my DHL tracking number and confirmed Monday delivery email and text, so there is obviosuly huge mis-communication somewhere.

I just received a txt confirming my new phone delivery for Monday; I don't really know what to say. It certainly does appear that O2 are running several different policies when dealing with customers.
