Ring O2 for iPhone 4. It works!

Okay so after much reading and confusion about how exactly to get an iPhone 4, I assumed that I would just have to sit back and wait for one. I tried ringing all my local O2 stores, ringing carphonewarehouse stores and order line, same with phones4u etc etc.

I thought Id ring O2 upgrades and see what they said. I knew it, "No your average monthly spend is only £42.08, and you need to pay at least £50" Odd I thought, as my contract is £45 a month so how could it be less, but nevertheless I didn't question it.

So I rang back. "No we dont do the early upgrade offer over the phone, has to be instore"

Ring again. "Need to be gold member"

Ring again. "Try instore mate"

...and again "Sure Mr Petch, we'll do that right away"

My only tip is to keep trying. I was planning on making up some story about "was told to ring this number, i was Guaranteed to get an upgrade, speak to your manager, going to cancel" etc etc but there was no need!

Anyway, I hope this helps some!

Jordan.

I am not a gold memeber and i was allowed to upgrade till they suddenly said i needed an issue number on my maestro which my card does not have and so they could not continue with the transaction. Yet 2 years ago i used the same card and i was able to sign up for a contract. Half of there staff seem totally and uttly clueless.

Perhaps "we've got no handsets" is a softer way of saying "you've not spent enough with O2" ??

Or we've just got no handsets for sale over the phone until the end of July, but the odd operator might just give you one if you ring enough times..

Just got off the phone and managed to use the early upgrade option. I am a silver priority member on £35 a month, paid an £80 early release fee and upgraded to the 18-month £40 per month contract. This makes the handset £60 cheaper, but as I can downgrade after 9 months, I can save £15 in the long run. Will be here Monday.

I upgraded yesterday over the phone and the lady told me she would put it on backorder as they had no more stock, but I never got any confirmation through so I thought I would ring today to check it had gone through.

I asked her about stock and she said there is none in, and they have no idea when more will come in so I just have to wait for a text from them. I mentioned that I know a few people that have called up today, ordered an iphone and been given a delivery date for Monday/Tues and the lady said that there is no way that's happened because they have no stock to guarantee delivery :womanindifferent:

No idea what's going on really, but I've basically been told to just wait until I hear from o2.
