Why, when I change the "First name" field in

does it always get set back to what it was previously the next day?

Bet you it reverts again overnight...

 Oh, you're right @MI5 - @@@least for the 4 people I have checked, their Bio does not show the name. 

Begs the question "What's it there for, then?", but I know better than to ask stoopid questions like that...

obvioussly it's there so you can change it to a different one every day....

I'm gonna guess here @pgn but I would assume admin have access to and need our first name information so they can address us more personally in PMs. So, for example they can say Hi Gloria to me instead of Hi Glory1.

I've just changed my name and will check again tomorrow if it's reverted back.

Only Mercedes ever called me Steve, everyone else in admin addresses me as jonsie which I find very impersonal in honesty. I don't mind when they are giving me a bollocking but for personal PMs I would like to be addressed by my birth name.

Interesting what you say @jonsie. Now I'm always addressed as Gloria in a PM by all of admin whether I'm getting a bollocking, a compliment or it's just a general chat. They've never referred to me as Glory1 which, like you, I would find very impersonal if not dowright offensive.

I can understand using our userids on the open forum but not in a PM that only you can view and read. How very, very odd.

Maybe they prefer jonsie to Steve? In which case they should ask if you mind being addressed as jonsie which would give you the option to say 'well actually I prefer Steve'.

Anyway, as they read all our posts, perhaps they'll get the message now 😄

I have never tried it. Mind you I rarely play about with my settings. I find if I do that, I usually mess something up. I only look at them if something stops working ie getting emails in etc.

As for PM's from admin, I am always called Denise (though Toby used to call me Cleo)

If I receive a PM from any of the mods, I am called Cleoriff...Not surprised at that as I only hear from them for one reason

No I rarely have a need to change my settings either @Cleoriff. And funnily enough, the few times I had a PM from the mods, they also called me Gloria. And I should imagine it was for exactly the same reason as you 🤣
