Mobile number not recognised as O2

Hi, having ported my number across to an O2 business account last October, and the phone working fine up to now, my number is suddenly not being recognised! If you call the number a nice lady says "sorry, this number is not recognised, please check the number" - I've spoken to O2 and they disconnected the number and then reconnected it, but it's now done the same thing again today. If the reconnection doesn't work this time, and they can't see any problem with the network, can anyone advise me on what the problem might be and how to solve it please? Many thanks

Who did you port from? Vodafone and Orange both have bugs in their systems which occasionally cause a ported number to no longer be routed to your new provider.

Hi,

Thanks. Yes, it was ported from Vodafone. Is this generally a temporary bug or is it a permanent thing once it's knocked the number out of the system?? Am concerned as this is a work phone and therefore no-one can contact me if it keeps doing this. I guess there are only so many times O2 can disconnect and reconnect the number (plus it'll get slightly frustrating if they have to do this all the time anyway).

Should I really contact Voda to see if there is anything they can do at their end??

Thanks for any advice.

You can try contacting Vodafone. Or you can contact O2 and explain you believe there is a routing problem with your ported number. Ask them to liaise with Vodafone.
Its going to take some patience on your part and you may have to put this in writing. (as I doubt many customer service have encountered this before)

This is not a porting issue, don't waste time calling Vodafone. You ported 6 months ago. This is an HLR issue. Your number is being taken off HLR or HLR flags are being wrongly set. You'll need tech support to get to the bottom of this if if has happened twice.

As I said, its a routing issue not a porting issue.
