Feedback: giffgaff achieve Which? Award 2014

Anonymous
Not applicable

I see giffgaff got the Which? Best Telecoms Provider award for 2014.  Is it too much to hope O2 will take note and try to learn a few lessons?

giffgaff certainly appear to have a more flexible attitude to Pay & Go tarfiffs - I have just received a free SIM from them and have initially topped up with a £10 goody bag which I am using in my standby mobile  - a Galaxy S2 ( the one that O2 tried to tell me was worthless because they claim the screen is damaged (no one I have shown it to has been able to detect any fault.)

If I should have posted this  in the Off Topic section - please forgive.

Gerry

(I have just noticed my online bank statement shows the vendor of the goodybag as Gift Gaff)

As their owned by Telefonica I'm sure all will be fine.

Their unlimited 3G goody bags look good and so do their Gigabags

4G capped tariffs and now have phones on offer.

No call centre support but their forum members and agents are very helpful.

It always shows as giftgaff on bank statements - I'm convinced someone did it as a joke as it's been like it for years and never been changed.
No call centres is deliberate to keep costs low and the forum is always full of helpful people falling over themselves to offer assistance as they get payback for doing so.

It's good they achieved this award.

However it's always a good idea to peruse their community boards like all networks they have their pros and cons.

I very much agree with you @Anonymous as regards the community boards.  I won't say anything just yet, but my initial impression of the quality of some of the advice offered was "below average" and certainly not up to the standard I have become accustomed to in this Community.  But it is early days  and I have not yet encountered any problems that I could not  deal with.

@MI5 I am all for doing away with Call Centres - most of those I have come into contact with aspire to mediocrity and don't quite get there.
