Hi upgrade is due in two weeks however my credit rating isn't great the moment, and due my pay day changing I have been 2 or 3 days late paying my bill. Do they do another credit check of you when you upgrade.

You will be fine. They do not do another credit check that I know of and I used to be pretty bad at remembering to pay my bill several times.

May be completely random that I was checked but I'd advise online anyway.

In that case it could work for or against you. If your credit rating has gone down but you have about 6 months of clear billing (where the bill is paid on time and with no barring issues) then you should get it. If your credit rating is the same but you've got a really poor payment history then you might struggle.
Companies look for different things from credit ratings. Service companies like O2 are looking for ability to pay the monthly amounts and a history of good clear billing.
Hope this helps.
