According the BBC News and probably Reuters....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31794823

The Apple Watch will range from £260 to over £10,000 depending on the materials used for the construction. I for one, as some people might know like to or would like to own expensive watches which are a worthy investments.

There's been a kerfuffle on G+ about it and I noticed some random insanity quotes in the Cult of Mac groupee section. If someone earns enough money to buy such luxury then fair enough although Joe Bloggs in the street shouldn't even consider getting themselves in debt for such a little reward if you ask me.

OK lets put it another way, would you pay £1,000 for an Android smartwatch with steel bracelet, sapphire crystal glass and full functionality in line with your Google account. Or would your life feel complete if you had a 18 ct. gold solid bracelet and no other benefits than the usual Apple Watch? I would feel cheated for one although I would buy one and bid it up for a higher price if I thought if was a wise investment.

Thoughts? Analogies? Conspiracies? Pringles?

If Carlsberg made Watches, they'd probably be the best in the world.

No watch by any phone manufacturer will ever rival the likes of Tag, Rolex etc - Fortunately most phone manufacturers aren't disillusion enough to think they can.....

Am i the only person who uses a watch to see the time?

I just cannot understand the appeal in having a £200.00 + watch just so you can see if someone has texted you without having to get your phone out your pocket. What can a "smart watch" do that the mobile phone you carry around everywhere can't?

No you are not @Anonymous I use a watch for just telling the time. Thats all it does (apart from looking good as it's Gucci)

Each to their own ...some people I know have them (not apple) and think they are great. It suits their lifestyle. Not for me though

I've preordered my Time by Dr.Dre watch. I can't wait.

I don't believe it really. Just what I need, viewing time as studio artists see it. 😉

On a serious note, I would consider a £10,000 watch - in these few scenarios.

1) I could afford it.

2) It was insured.

3) It was a timepiece made by master craftmen by a reputable company.

4) The knowledge that all parties involved were all well paid and took pride in their work.

I can only assume the Apple watches will be made in secluded factories under harsh conditions. The higher quality models will be assembled and put together in another location, highly guarded and closer vetted for purity and authenticity.

Solid Gold may be quite heavy as well, especially if it's 18 or 22 carat.

Besides my usual arguments for not buying into Apple, I just feel personally a smart watch is slightly needless like Selfy Sticks. The idea of any form of smartwatch doesn't really appeal to me either. Call me old fashioned however I prefer a good analogue watch; it's not my fault some of today's youth can't tell the time.

I like the look of the specs of the iWatch.  I will probably test one in the Apple shop before I decide whether to buy one though.  If I do buy one, it definately won't be the 18ct Gold one. Even if I was on a very high salary I wouldn't (in my opinion) 'waste' my money on a watch even if it is made by Apple.

It's a bit "overdone" though, what with Summerwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch too
