Existing O2 iphone 5, just bought a iphone 6 same sim size, swap sim over, iphone 6 just says “searching” instead of O2, any ideas why ?
Thought i could just move sim over And new iphone 6 would be ok ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Danny0367 Is should be fine as they both take a nano sim.

Are you PAYG or Contract? That could cause issues as they are different sim types

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/how-to-keep-your-mobile-number

If nothing has changed tariff wise then keep rebooting your phone.

If none of that works just pop into a local O2 shop and pick a up new sim and get them to transfer everything over ..

Where did the new phone come from?
Is it an o2 or unlocked phone?
Is it faulty?
Does any other sim work in it ?
Have you connected to iTunes etc?

Bought phone from a mate of a mate.
It was being previously on O2 contract.
Tried other O2 sim in it. Same issue. Just says “searching” or “No service”
How would connecting to itunes help ?

Oh that might put a different perspective on it @Danny0367

It may have been reported lost or stolen as part of an insurance scam. In that case O2 would have blocked the phone. Just a suggestion...:smileysad:

Did you see it working before you bought it?
If the IMEI is not flagged up then it might be the SIM tray/reader is not working properly...
Try your sim in your old phone to make sure it still works.
As advised before, try getting a new sim from an o2 shop.
If none of that works then definitely the sim reader.
