iMessage on iOS 7 not working

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi

1st message so please be kind, I couldn't find a thread similar to this topic...

I updated to iOS 7 last night, and now I don't have access to iMessage from my telephone number.  It works with my gmail & iCloud email addresses but not on my phone number.

Plus it hasn't activated yet.  I love my iPhone 5 and it is doing my head in to get it sorted.  I have tried all the work arounds on the web that I can find (reset settings, turn off & on wifi and airplane mode).  Plus I have rebooted the phone.  Strangely I get this or something similar sent to me by text message every time I try to activate it.

The same thing is happening with my wife's iPhone 4 when updated to iOS 7.  I have called O2 couldn't get through as everyone is upgrading, therefore I contacted O2 via chat and they said it is a issue and will be resolved, when?

Does anyone what is going on or what to do?

I didn't have Tugo on my phone but my account was still active, deleting the account worked for me! Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for your help with this - getting O2 to delete my 'suspended' TuGo account deleted immediately re-enabled my iMessage, Facetime and Visual Voicemail - it took a couple of attempts to get O2 to delete the account, but very glad it's sorted.

iMessage and Facetime now working fine after having de-activated the TuGo account.  Problem was, I signed up for it a few weeks ago and removed it from my old phone and my computer, so had forgotten all about it.

I had to download the app, sign in, then deactivate account, then switch off/on and iMessage worked fine - but I never would have thought of all that!

Can TuGo be used again, or is it best to be avoided?

FYI, for those that do not have TuGo installed:
Ensure you have full backup (mine was to iCloud)
Reset and wipe iPhone.
Restore from iCloud backup.
Fixed it for me.

Yup, wife's iphone4s - was receiving odd messages from +447786205094, so showed it me. Ended up here, and her iMessage activation failed etc.

Removed her TuGo account, waited for the TuGo bolt-on to clear her account, rebooted and reactivated iMessage and FaceTime, no problems!

All very strange really... I know several people who are on contract with no problem at all... As a possible solution, maybe suggest to ur friends to download and activate TuGo and then delete the account right away and see if that overrides the problem? Just a thought and worth a try:)

Also if you've had TuGo in the past, reinstall it or even if you haven't sign in with your credentials or register an account. And follow the instructions...

Open the TuGo app on your iPhone.
Go to Settings, then Account and delete your account, and slide the switch to Yes.

Uninstall the app from all of your devices.

Go to settings on your iPhone and then iMessage. Slide the switch to off.

Reboot your iPhone.

Go back to Settings and slide the switch to On, and it will say waiting for activation again, give it a few minutes and you should have full iMessage capabilities again, you may need to check that your phone number is selected in the Send & Receive option.

I have spoken to TuGo's Technical product manager who is now going further into the issue.

The funny SMS' that you were receiving were supposed to be silent and sent to an activation server, but since iOS 7 has been introduced, TuGo hasn't been updated as these messages have changed slightly and are hitting TuGo and relaying back to us as a normal SMS.

Hello!

I am getting the same problem on here - just installed ios7 however my iMessage REFUSES to activate? I DO NOT have TUGo installed so that is NOT the issue.

I also keep getting these weird text messages that are all jumbled letters and numbers?!? It has the words REG-RESP in the text?

Can someone help please - what is going on? Is this an O2 issue ?

Try installing TuGo and requesting your password. They may have bundled it with your account.

I don't have a TUGo account and I really do not want one. I don't think that is the issue anyway?!
