iMessage on iOS 7 not working

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi

1st message so please be kind, I couldn't find a thread similar to this topic...

I updated to iOS 7 last night, and now I don't have access to iMessage from my telephone number.  It works with my gmail & iCloud email addresses but not on my phone number.

Plus it hasn't activated yet.  I love my iPhone 5 and it is doing my head in to get it sorted.  I have tried all the work arounds on the web that I can find (reset settings, turn off & on wifi and airplane mode).  Plus I have rebooted the phone.  Strangely I get this or something similar sent to me by text message every time I try to activate it.

The same thing is happening with my wife's iPhone 4 when updated to iOS 7.  I have called O2 couldn't get through as everyone is upgrading, therefore I contacted O2 via chat and they said it is a issue and will be resolved, when?

Does anyone what is going on or what to do?

Success for me too! I deleted my Tugo account (Tugo/settings/delete account). Turned iMessages off and on again and the silent message has actually arrived silently and activated my iMessage with phone number. Haven't tried reinstalling and getting a Tugo account. But at least I know how to fix it if the problem comes back!

(My original problem occurred before I upgraded to iOS 7... So maybe when Apple realised iOS 7 something about their server settings and O2's interaction with them changed.)

Great job, everyone; thank you.

Hi All,

The TuGo account deactivation worked for me on my Iphone 5:smileyhappy:

Spoke with Apple, O2 and trawled the web.  Tried reset, reinstalled etc no luck.

Had TUgo installed on my iPad so deactivated it and SUCCESS.

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in this - Top Job.

Think O2 should have flagged this up as a possible fix when i spoke to them yesterday for 35 minutes. Spread the word it might not work for everyone but it it works for you RESULT.

The problem is defo with TuGo but it's really important that you delete the TuGo account and not just sign out. I had deleted the app previously and not used TuGo for a long time but it was still causing me the problem. So I had to re download TuGo and sign in, go to settings and delete account. Then delete the app. Then turn iMessage off and on again and same with FaceTime and it works perfectly. Remember, it may not have been your iPhone you used TuGo on, it could have been on a different device.

For those where the TuGo fix is not working... What issue do you have exactly? The TuGo solution works for those where you are receiving strange registration texts of code from a random number. If your iMessage isn't working and your not getting those messages then the problem may me something else. Have a look at your Carrier version... Go to Settings - General - About... If the Carrier is showing as 15.0 then it needs updated to 15.1. Easiest way to do this is connect to wifi, go back to Settings - General - About and wait for a few seconds... The carrier update will appear and you should now be on 15.1. Then try turning iMessage off and on and see how you get on.

I've got 2 friends who do not have TUgo and they cannot activate iMessage, so I think it is more to do with the contract SMS centre number rather than TUgo. 3 people I know on PAYG have had no problems with it, so the only variable is the SMS centre phone number.....

MI5, the message centre number on iPhone is read from the sim, it's not changeable from within the phone's menu system so I can't see this being a factor.

As in my post above there is another option for them to try if they have never used TuGo. Failing that other users are reporting that a backup and restore is working, but that would be a last resort as the other options should work:)

I'm aware of that but the same number is used for all contract phones and it's a different number for PAYG. That was my point......

Also, the phones I've checked were on 15.1 and were getting the strange message..... Smiley Frustrated
