iMessage on IOS 7 not working over cellular network

Good afternoon everyone.

I have a problem with iMessage on IOS 7 that, as far as I'm aware, only started in the past few days (possibly since the recent 7.02 update). I think it's slightly different to all the other problems described on here and I've tried those fixes but without success.

Essentially iMessage will not send (or receive, I think) over cellular network. When I try to fix this by turning it off and on (with Wifi switched off) I get told that it can't be turned on as I need to activate cellular data, but it is activated.

The only way to turn it back on is with Wi-Fi enabled. But then as soon as I turn that off to simulate being out without a wireless connection, iMessage doesn't send.

Any advice gratefully received!

Many thanks in advance

Hmmm, don't be telling me that... I think I'd finally made my mind up to stick on iPhone. A change would be nice though...

cheers

I've tried several different tricks to fix my iMessage, as I was one of the unlucky ones who's iMessage stopped working since the iOS 7 update. And after reading the Apple Forums and other articles across the internet I finally found one that actually fixed the problem.

That was that you have to turn iMessage off, then go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Your phone will reboot. Then you need to go back to your network settings making sure you have cellular/mobile connection. Then go to Settings > Messages, switch on iMessage, enter your Apple ID and wait for it to activate with the network. Once done you should then be able to send messages direct from your mobile number and not your Apple ID. If this hasn't worked then you may need to plug your phone into iTunes for it to recognise a carrier update if your phone doesn't already recognise it already.

If this doesn't work then there may be a problem with the download of iOS 7. So try backing up and completely restoring the phone then re-sync with iTunes. Once you've done this try the above steps once again and see if it works. If not then I'd recommend you making an appointment with the Genius Bar at Apple and see if they can fix it for you.
