Going abroad

My daughter is in Germany on an exchange trip with her school for one week, I am worried she will run up an expensive bill ringing and texting people back here in England and also her school friends that are staying in other homes in Germany. What is the best option, other than banning her from using her phone. Many thanks

Tell her to use wifi where possible. M
Turn off mobile data in her phones settings.
Use a local sim if her phone is unlocked.
Look at using tugo

Do you have O2 travel on the account?

As MI5 has said, O2 travel will help, if you've got it. As for the rest, you're probably going to have to bite the bullet and prepare yourself for an increase in your bill this month. It's highly unlikely she'd be able to find a local sim, even if she found the time, and you'd be a pretty cruel dad if you banned her from using her phone and prevented her from texting and talking to her friends about her weeklong adventure. Let her enjoy herself. slight_smile

Thank you I have checked and she does, I have had a look at what it is but it doesn't say anything about texts, are they free?

You're welcome. If you have a word with her about how expensive roaming charges can be, she just might surprise you and be responsible about it all. Good luck.
