My wife and I joined O2 a couple of months ago through the Carphone Warehouse both with iPhone 5 handsets.
To date mine has been fine but my wife has had a very minor issue that whilst it doesn’t effect day to day operation of the phone it is just an irritant. The issue is with visual voicemail and is that everytime she hangs up from a voice call, the little red dot on visual voicemail appears (without any numbers in it) and then disappears within seconds.
This all started about a month ago when O2 had some issue with voicemail. At the time when she dialled 901 she just got a message stating that the number was not available. After a couple of days it corrected itself and worked again.
However, during the time that voicemail was down, someone had left her a message. This message appeared on visual voicemail but was not available via 901 and I believe that it may be this message that is somehow stuck in the system and causing this glitch.
I have contacted O2 via online chat on 3 occasions to try and resolve this matter but to no avail. The first advisor just told me to reset voicemail by using the 1760/1750 options and leaving it switched off for 10 minutes in between. The second advisor said he had reset my voicemail at O2's end and to leave it 24 hours before switching it back on with 1750. The third advisor told her to dial a short code (**61*901*NN#) which should hopefully do the trick.
I have also tried resetting the network settings and also has done a complete reset of the phone and restored it from an iCloud backup.
None of the above things have worked as she is still getting this red dot. I therefore just wondered if anyone has had a similar issue and can advise on how to get this resolved?
Like I said above, it doesn’t seem to be causing any other issues that we are am aware of but it is quite irritating and I’d like to get it resolved for her as soon as possible.
Thanks

If you are in a 2g only area this red dot appears blank for a bit after a call as there is no data connection during a voice call.
So it takes a little while for rhe 2g data to be available then the red dot automatically goes .
Normal behaviour in a 2g only area. If not in a 2g area then there could be an issue.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 5 and I have no idea what causes it so I'll be interested to see the replies to this. I must admit I haven't done anything about it though!

It happens when I make calls at work or home, both of which are 3G areas.
To be honest it's no big deal to me but I'll be interested in solution if there is one!

Like Tracy said, it's no biggie as it doesn't seem to affect anything, it's just slightly annoying for my wife.
