'this phone is switched off'.

I've had 3 people tell me they get 'this phone is switched off'. Tested it this am with person standing next to me. I had strong signal. She is on vodafone. No call, and no text that she sent either. Got another person on voda to call me, same thing. Clearly I have no way of knowing how often this happens. Tried an online chat with a guru, did a restart then a change to network settings and same thing. I don't have time to wait for slow guru chat. Can anyone shed any light please?

First off I would clean the sim card and restart the phone.

check for network issues using your postcode. http://status.o2.co.uk

Next step would be a new sim.

Are you in a busy city or densely populated area?

Well it is either a faulty phone or a bad network connection so try a new sim first and if that doesn't help, contact the phone manufacturer for help on checking the phone out.

I'm inclined to think it's a vodafone porting issue
