suspected phone con

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have just been biled by 02 for allegedly making a phone call to tel no 08712770709. for at least 2 hours 53 minutes and was charged £35.00. From what I remember I never made a phone call to this number. Is  there somebody who has had a similar experience? I have just looked in google and it appears some people have had this problem. Please if anybody in the community has had this problem do share with me because I suspect there is a con.

No I do not have this number as a contact. The first time I knew about this number was when it appeared on my last 02 mobile phone bill. This was when I tried to trace who it could have been until somebody on the forum posted details of Edreams and what they do. This information was what helped me remeber that I had an email NOT TELEPHONE communication with Edreams regarding booking of tickets to Easty Africa.

Ladies and gentlemen I think we are missing the point here. There are clearly issues which come up on the forum which may well be outside our domain of competence and it is always hionest and noble to admit them when they occur. Clearly I have issues with O2 regarding the phone bill something which I have taken out with them and from my 35 years of work in telecommunications in at both local and international level I have come across a lot of malpractices on a global basis. What I do not understand is when some people try to be so clever by making innuendos based on relatively shallow background to the problems to hand. It was not my intention to cause such a problem to the forum members and if that is how it has come across then I profusely apologise for it. However my rights as a consumer cannot be thwarted by some whiz kid trying to suggest that I have done something funny. My credentials as a former senior executive wihin the UN which regulated telephone issues on a global basis and witnessed a lot of shortfalls with many telecommunication service providers speak for themselves. I cannot afford to have my hard earned pension be stolen by some unscrupulous practice and then be brushed aside as if nothing wrong happened. As a consumer it could happen to anybody and am neither the first nor the last person to find 02 services wanting at the best of times. Rest assured I will not spend another minute on the forum on the same subject. I have in placea robust system for fighting O2 if that is what it takes without bothering the seteem gathering of the forum members.

"Also how the buttons on a desktop keyboards jumpds to accidentally touch a mobile phone button also is a new one. However you have made me learn something new today with your response Kudo"

My responses to you were actually scenarios which may have explained the call. I'm not suggesting you did something funny nor was I trying to be as insulting as your response quoted above.

I'm not even suggesting you made the call, O2 along with other major networks have certain regulations put in place in regards to automated billing structures, surely in your 35 years in the UN you would have came across them. If the connection was made from your handset then it was made, if it was an error then it will be rectified, there is no scam or con on the part of O2 and as your provider they will investigate.

However being condescending towards someone offering a possibility to your situation? Not really on is it.

I could sit here and pick apart certain holes such as how you found many more people with trouble from this number, yet didn't become aware it was edreams cs until pointed out on here?

But I'm ill and tbh cannot be arsed.

Yes I did and we are in communication on the matter at a private level as he suggested. However, as I said earlier I refuse to make any more comments in the forum on the subject as I have in place sufficient ammunition to take on 02 no matter how long or costly it gets.
