Hi everyone!
I literally just dropped my phone and now it won't work. I can hear messages coming into the phone but the screen won't work at all. I upgraded in March this year so not due for another one and no money to repair it!
Any advice on what to do much appreciated! Carphone Warehouse have quoted £80 and I don't have that!
Thanks in advance,
Jess xx

Your best option it would seem would be to send the phone back to O2 or Samsung. They will give you a price for the repair which you can accept or decline. At least you will get a definitive cost. In the meantime check if any of your friends have old phones lying around in drawers or buy a cheap phone to tide you over until your circumstances improve.

Don't have home insurance - how would I be covered by my bank?
Some bank accounts cover phones - Usually the premium accounts that you pay a small fee for each month.....

You might get it done more cheaply but it's unlikely, you'll have to save up for it.

Hi,
Sorry to read that your options are very limited. Even if you took out a smartphone insurance policy right now there's typically an excess (and another excess if you claim very early) which would probably be the same as your repair quote, but if it's a quote only then you should accept that it could go up and up... so maybe consider a policy if you're not able to borrow monies from a friend or family..? Probably not wise to borrow funds from a lender for this kind of thing.

No insurance company would allow anyone to take out a policy after the phone is damaged.
@Anonymous, you say your screen is broken, but do you mean it's physically cracked, or that there is nothing showing on the display? If the screen isn't broken, it could mean that your phone has internal damage, which may or may not be more expensive to repair than a cracked screen. The only way to know for sure is to send it off for an estimate.
