s3 4.3 update

Anonymous
Not applicable

I was one of the 'lucky' people to catch the upgrade to 4.3.

I've now disabled the smartstay & have been rebooting my phone after i have made any use of the GPS - this is keeping the battery life ok, but I still get dropouts when playing media files & the wake up is occasionally sluggish.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has heard any info other than the comment from samsung that they are investigating.

I'm undecided whether to reset my phone back to 4.1.2, although I have no idea how to do it, if it's going to be months until a fix then I guess it would be worth doing. Anyone heard ANYTHING? I'm not at all interested to hear about disgruntled users - these things happen & I'm sure the poor overworked developers are doing everything than can to fix the faults the test team failed to spot.

So there is no issue flashing the uk firmware over what is already on the phone, which I assume in my case is some European issue release? all very confusing 😕

No issue at all. Just flash the ROM I told you to search for.....

and follow the instructions re factory resets etc and you'll be fine slight_smile

Ok all done, just setting stuff up Hero  Can see some of the changes and the voice command option is a real bonus. Don`t see any new widgets etc, however still a few improvements, time will tell with the battery usage didn`t find it all that great on 4.1.2.

Battery is much better (was for me anyway). Biggest change is the Smartgear support. There is new bluetooth support and the rest is minor enhancements.

You'll need to root and flash a custom ROM for that slight_smile

I see there is a new firmware out I9300XXUGMK7  ?   Got to be honest and say not too impressed with the MK6, wonder if this one fixes some of those bugs, tempted to downgrade again if not fixed or install a custom ROM? What custom ROMs are good ?

Not seen a changelog but I guess it will address some of the WiFi bugs....?
I always use AOSP based ROM's as I find them the most stable but there are many to choose from for the S3.
Try something like "SuperNexus", just search on XDA for it.

Any news on official O2 one? I'd rather not put on a rom if I can help it, tried before and lost a lot of stuff!
