Xperia L1 cannot use Messenger

Anonymous
Not applicable

My Xperia L1 phone will not let me use Messenger as from today

The phone screen is showing something like 'This is out of date'

I have tried to update using Google Play App as the screen states

I do not seem to have Google Play App ... & ... have no idea how to proceed

I shall be going offline shortly ... but ... would appreciate any offers of help

Apologies for usual inate ineptitude regarding anything tech

The Good News is Messenger seems to be working ... ... ... it must have had a restful night's sleep LOL

Facebook has updated smiling

However, I didn't sleep at all last night ... a 1st for some while ... so ... I'm off for a kip now to catch up

No need to go outside today ... no plans in my phone's calendar

Have had a text from O2 saying that on 3 & 4 October they are doing work in a postcode area where the first 5 letters and numbers are the same as my house

@MI5 I shall search for that Play Store App on my phone relentlessly, using the link you have posted and again following what you have said above ... ... ... just not right now

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thank you @MI5

I do not know what firmware I am on ... however ... my gut feeling is that I don't have it ... or ... it is somehow 'hidden'

I am beginning to have that boggling feeling slight_frown

I do try with tech stuff ... but ... always seem to struggle

Guess I'm just not built for the 21st century *shrugs shoulders*

You have a lot of patience with my ineptness MI5, for which I heartily thank you

I second both motions . These new gadgets are not user friendly unless one's knowledge is up to date via work or  knowledgeable friends and family.  And 2nd where would we be without M15 and (his) ability to put jargon into simple language and steps
