Please can anyone help?  I have a Sony Xperia Z5 compact that I have started to use for navigating since my Garmin sat nav stopped working.

The Maps app is version 9.51.1 (#951100223).  In navigation settings, I can only sometimes hear the voice when I 'play test sound' and it never gives voice instructions when I am navigating.  The voice setting is 'louder' and NOT muted.  The GPS works fine.

I considered uninstalling the app and then reinstalling, but I have only the choice of 'disable' or 'force stop'.

What can I do to solve the problem?

Sounds like a phone issue as there is nothing else to try but if you can get voice instructions when not connected to car it may be something you're doing wrong or it's just not compatible with your car.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Have you checked the media volume when you are using it?
Navigation instructions are treated as media volume and not call volume.
In Waze, there are also different options for volume: sounds on (you hear instructions and alerts), alerts only (over speed limit, hazard ahead) and sound off.

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).
