There is a global sync setting that over rides all other sync settings. Make sure that is on.
You should have a shortcut on the pull down menu for "Auto Sync"

Hi

Try turning your phone off and on as this can help resolve connection issues.

Ie A soft reset and battery pull if applicable to your model of phone.

Who is your e mail provider ?

What phone do you use ?

You could try another e mail app
Or log out and log back in and reset your settings.

Check in settings that you have notifications enabled.

Would also like to add if it show's in settings that its enable (not sure if its the same as mine is htc) go into your applications through settings, then go to all, and go to which email you use gmail or stock, then check in there to see if notifications is ticked in there or not also.

Found this which may help.

"Depending on your firmware,

For ICS goto settings > accounts and sync

And your accounts are listed there just turn sync now on at the top to sync them all

For JB goto settings and there is a sub heading for accounts with your accounts listed right on that page, go into desired account and sync there.

The sync disabled shows if you have not enabled sync from the pull down notifications area, if you tap on sync there and it shows up green, then any peak/off peak sync settings should apply."

I'm primarily an iPhone user I'm afraid.

The only other resets I could suggest are to delete your email address details / settings in the phone and re key them in using the appropriate pop3 or
IMAP option.

Use K9 e mail app instead

Or if a soft reset does not work perform a hard reset after backing your info up.
