Messaging has stopped working - GS3 JB

Looks like there has been another foul up on JB 😞 Some people may be recieving the error above when trying to open messaging. I called o2 who said they have had multiple reports and the only known fix is to backup with kies and then restore.

Hi Maggie and everyone else. I had the same issue, only recieved the phone on the 18th Ocotber as a new upgrade and had this problem after Jelly Bean update. I tried clear cache.. service stopped, disable etc but nothing worked. I ddidnt want to factory restore as other said it didnt work either.

However i found a short term solution.. Download Go SMSpro from play store.. install that and run..
Now guess what? try opening the stock messageing app.. it strangely works eh.. Somehow this app gives it a kick up the backside to start working again..Tip.. Go sms is alot better than the stock messaging app. :))) hope this helps guys!!

Advice is always to backup and factory reset after any software update.....

Must be something handset specific as mine works fine so it's not a JB issue......

It is device/firmware specific. I called o2 and before i mentioned my phone she said "is it the samsung galaxy S3? Have you recently done the jb update?" people have been calling up since yesterday about it she said. trying another factory reset now. Can't check the message centre number as the entire message app is shot

You have to get O2 tech support on to it. As I said above it's not an issue on open FW so has to be related to whatever mods O2 have done. I am assuming you are not installing any other apps of any sort after you did the reset?

Guys, I've found an easy fix for this without needing a factory reset. Go into S-Voice and tell it to "Open Text Message Application". It opens it without any problems and after that it'll open normally. I worked for me so I hope it works for you too. Try it before trying anything else.
