HTC One M8 - mic not working

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi there,

can someone help with a problem i'm having?

For some reason (I have not changed any settings) the mic on my phone is not working.  When I make or recieve calls I cannot hear a thing, absolute silence.  Even when I making a call there is no ring tone at all.  The work around I have found is to switch the call to speaker mode which enables a two way conversation.  The thing is I do not want to to continue this way as I do not want everyone to hear my conversations.

This fault happened a couple of months ago, which makes me think there is either a common harware fault with the phone or a setting has changed without me knowing.

When the problem occured months ago I asked O2 technical support for a resolutions and was told there was not one.  I then brought the phone into a shop who sent off for repair and instead of repairing a new phone was returned.

Any help would be apprecaited.

Thanks

Daz

Sounds like it's the earpiece gone, not the mic.
I just checked HTCs own warranty period and it is 24months. As the m8 was released late March 2014, this means it is still in warranty.
Contact HTC regarding the problem for a repair.

Yeah, it's the earpiece speaker that's gone faulty by the sounds of it - Contact HTC for a repair under warranty.
