Firmware

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have an S7 bought from Carphone Warehouse. Due to it not having O2 firmware I cannot get WiFi or 4g calling to work as the option is not there in the device settings.
If I flashed the device with O2 firmware from Sammobile would it work?

Cheers

No, you must use firmware that is correct for your device and region.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

I have an unlocked phone, bought online in the UK. All works, no bloatware from Providers, bla bla bla.

But if the provider needs to have its firmware on the phone, where is the reason for having an unlocked phone then? I don't want to pay this ridiculous amount of money for a phone and contract and not being able to take the phone with me when changing providers. Also I use only the classic PAYG.

Is there a possibility for o2 to send the firmware to the phone somehow to give me the wifi-option?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G735F).

Thanks.

O2 don't support wifi calling on P&G

You may be better changing to a provider that does
