Call waiting alert/beep heard by caller

Anonymous

Morning,

I hope you can assist. I have an annoying issue with my Sumsung S6 Edge, when on a call, if I receive another call at the same time I hear a call waiting beep tone which is ok, however I do not want the caller on the line to hear this, it is unprofessional and disrupts conversation. How do I stop this? I do want call waiting to be on, but no in-call sounds that can be heard by the person I am on the phone to. Thanks.

"Call Waiting Distinct Ringback" was what I saw.

No such facility with O2.

As this seems to be a big issue for you, maybe you need to look at a network that can give you the service you need.

Sorry but I speak my mind. I don't think O2 can get rid of the irritating beep for you and your customers but it seems other networks can. Not trying to be insulting or offhand about it honestly.

The beep will be audible as long as the mic in the device picks it up, it's not like o2 send a beep to the person you are already in the call with, only you get the beep. But.. If your mic in your handset picks it up, the other party will hear it regardless of what network you're on.

Ok I find it amazing that a beep can pass from my inner ear to the mic on my chest? is this what you are suggesting?

The call waiting beep will interrupt the call audio. Your caller will hear a break in audio rather than a beep in that situation but an audible beep could be heard in some circumstances.

OK, so you have been on another forum, where they talk about Verizon Network function (in 2008), as Verizon dont use GSM but a CDMA network..

The call waiting notification sound is generated by the network, to inform both callers that a call is waitng to be answered, rather than just ringing out..

This is as per the GSM Standard's issued by ETSI, which all GSM networks abide by.

To add switching this feature off can be done on VOLTE, networks, but it looks like it would require a line of code in the VOLTE network stack:  urnalertservice:call-waiting ..

I cant see any UK network implementing this at all.

This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company
