Just for clarity.
The battery percentage is x% of the current power left in the powercells.
If you have 50% overall power left. 35% of that 50% is being used for the app or service.
Also another bug or niggle, Android displays any remaining power usage under system idle. Therefore, if all the resources in use add to 45% then the system is 55% idle, even though the power isn't strictly being used. This is another problem you get with PSU's which is why you now get 80+ certifted power supplies; these don't waste as much energy and generate less heat.
So what's the answers run more applications or live with the questionable statistics?

Tonight I owe a big THANK YOU to @MI5 (Rich) for helping me through removing the o2 operating system on my Note 3 and replacing it with core Android. It took a while as I needed to download extra stuff to make it work but Rich took me through it during the early stages.
Thank you Rich for your help and preserverence. I can now see what happens over the coming days in relation to battery power.
Cheers Rich
And now you know why he was the one that got lumbered with helping me set up my Note 3
