Hi, since buying my Galaxy y, in April, i have on lots of occasions not been able to send/ receive texts, or make and receive phone calls, there is no set time or place when this happens,or any particular phone numbers. i have returned the phone to 02, and spoke to Samsung, but neither can come up with what the problem may be, with each saying its the other causing the problem. Only today i have not been able to make any phone calls, although it shows maximum signal strength, and no one has been able to ring me, i have been given a new sim card, and a replacement Galaxy y phone, but the problem persists, the sim works ok when fitted to a older phone. Anyone any ideas? or anyone had similar probs with a Galaxy Y??, thanks dave

Thanks for the replies, i spoke to o2 yesterday who were not very helpfull, i was told i need to buy a new phone, or take it up with Samsung?, i intend to take it back to the o2 shop today, and ask for a permenent cure or refund, i have found others on the net who have the same problem, but no particular cures, the helpline of o2 telling me my argument is with the manufacturer is not correct, it is with the retailer where purchased, thanks again dave

Before you do this - do go to "Settings -> About Device" on your phone and make a note of the currently installed software version. This will help you to know if any software update is successful - because the version number will change.
One solution provided in many places is to ensure the phone's software is up to date. You can do this using Samsung's Kies software available from http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP
Install the software, then once installed - connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable. Kies will notify you of any available software updates - install them and see if the problem persists afterwards.

The problems that I have with my Galaxy y is sometime`s more trouble than its worth but the thing that I do with every problem is and I know this sounds like a dark ages idea is to take the battery out ever time it happens witch is a pain to say the least. But my main problem that I have is the phone turns its self off the reason it does this is a complete mystery to me so I just pull out the battery for a few seconds then replace it and it goes back to normal if you can call that normal. what a joke
