4.2.2 For HTC One X

Anonymous
Not applicable

Following Perksie's advice from the other similarly titled thread that has been listed as solved by someone, thought I'd open a new thread, so any HTC One X users can report on any correspondence they have with O2 about the roll-out of 4.2.2 to the HOX.

The last major update (to 4.1.1) left a lot of users disillusioned with O2 after conflicting answers from a variety of sources. If anyone can tell me how to post a link to that thread for reference I will. I will also copy and paste my comment from the other ('solved') thread below.

Let's hope O2 get it right this time.

@Toby & @Chiara, can you help us at all....?

Hi guys,

I understand the frustration with waiting. I'll try and get an update for everyone today.

Cheers, Toby

Thanks Toby.

Over 1000 views of this post, and over 200 of the similar thread http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android-Devices-Samsung-HTC-Sony/Dragging-their-feet/td-p/516850

shows there is a lot of interest in this issue. If it turns out to be the case that we aren't going to get it for a week/two weeks/three weeks then there is nothing we can do about it (although it is imo not acceptable). It is the lack of information / mis-information / lies that are really winding people up. We'd just like an honest, accurate answer!

Just seen the o2 uk twitter page are saying that the HTC onex+ 4.2.2 update is being tested and is HOPEFULLY being released sometime this month... Speedy service as always. No sarcasm meant. Honest.

Sooner this contract is up the better because its a joke the amount of time needed to incorporate a splashscreen and useless crap into software that has already been tested and verified.

So if it started being rolled out on the 27th August, they are saying it could take them 5 weeks to add stuff no-one wants them too? Brilliant.

Good to see o2 at it again, I know most of you guys probably don't root your phones, but it might be worth doing it, I've only got 5 months left, but there is a custom Rom called revolutionhd, it is android 4.2.2 with sense 5, official HTC one x Rom but with a tweak to work on any cid number had it 3 days now and works amazing!

Hi Matty,

I had looked at rooting my phone as saw a 4.3 rom on HTC Developers, but couldn't get it to work, using a tutorial from same site. Where did you find the instructions to root yours? pm me if you think any doofus could do it!

Not yet. Had a problem getting the HTC drivers to download from the two places I tried to get them from. The command prompt then kept saying the Daemon wasn't running properly or something, and the rest of the process wouldn't work.

Managed to get a bootloader unlock key from HTC but it wouldn't work. I thnk because the drivers weren't installed properly the command prompt didn't force the phone into fastboot mode. I did it manually instead, and copied the big long key code thing and submitted it. But HTC seems to want you download and extract masses of files too, and I tried to extract them but that didn't work either!

It all turned into a bit of a shambles.

Matty81... Did you put the zipped "flash_boot_8.x_0.1" file onto sd card, and then install it, or did you extract the "boot.img" and flash it through "bootloader" with command prompts ? Cheers
