Hey everyone, 

Unless you're very new to the community you've likely noticed a few changes to how the forum looks this morning. As we announced yesterday the O2 community has been upgraded! In addition to the new look there are several new features, some requested and a few new ones for good measure. 😄

New home page 

Starting at the top we have a new integrated header for the community. The new header contains some useful links. On the left side you have a link to the main O2 site. 

You then have links to the O2 shop page > O2 help and support page > My O2 and your shop basket.

On the right of these links you will see your community notifications > private messages and your profile picture.

Clicking on your profile picture will bring up a drop down menu which contains the following... 

Directly below the header you will find the new community navigation! The community categories are listed here and if you hover over you will see a drop down of the different boards. 

The next level down is the community search bar and your latests stats and notifications! 

Below this is our new featured content widget. This is similar to Latest News section on the old home page but is in a much more prominent place than before. 

Next is the new trending topics section which is a live feed of the most popular conversations happening in real time! 

Below to trending topics you will see the familiar Community Activity where you can see the latest topics and filter them by most recent > most viewed > most commented and most liked. 

Down at the bottom of the home page you will see a feed that highlights the most recent guides and reviews. If you hit the View All button it will take you to the guides and reviews category. 

Finally the familiar community stats can be found at the very bottom of the page. 

New private messaging interface

We also have a brand new private message system which will display your message conversations in a threaded view so no more going back and forth between your inbox and outbox. Please note: Only messages exchanged after the upgrade goes live will be in the threaded view. 

Solution highlight 

The next new feature to talk about is floated solutions. When a solution is picked on a thread it will be highlighted at the top of the discussion for easy viewing. The solution will still be in it's proper position down the chain of messages. 

The new version has an updated text editor box for topics, replies and private messages.

Issue log and updates: 

Text font and formatting - Fixed. To correct this please clear the cache on your bowser 

Signature cut off - Fixed. The hight of the signature box has been increased. 

Continuity problem on long topics - Fixed. This was an admin setting that has now been turned off 

Guide and review boards formatting issues - Fixed. We now have a tiled view for guides and reviews. 

Topics on the board level not sorting by most recent post -Fixed. The topics will now sort at the board level by most recent reply. 

Image gallery missing from profile page - Fixed. You can now find your image gallery on your profile page and the public image gallery of other members on their profile page. 

Increase emoji size - Fixed. The size of the emoji's in posts and messaging has now been increased. 

Add friends from member profile -Fixed. Add and remove friend has been added to profile pages. 

Missing options in text editor on mobile view (video link, quote and emoji’s) - Fixed. Quotes and emoji's have been added to the mobile view text editor. Adding videos is not currently supported however this will be added in a future platform upgrade. 

Adding unanswered topics to homepage dropdown - Fixed. A widget for unread posts has been added to the home page. 

Guide links not working - Fixed. Guide links now take you directly to the guide page. 

Adding post count and views to replies - Fixed. Post count and views have now been added.

Errors in footer formatting - Fixed. We have now corrected all of the errors.

Topic first post is displayed on all pages of replies - Fixed. Now the OP is only visible on the first page of the thread.

Spell checker in text editor  - In progress. We have 2 different options for the spell checker. Inline, realtime or with the old style click to check for misspelled words. We'll decide this at a later date. 

Spell checker change from US English to UK English - Investigating

Your own posts showing in the unread message page - Investigating 

Clicking an unread message takes you to different unread message then highlighted - Investigating

Using male/female emoji’s adds extra emoji’s - Investigating

Quoting options - Closed. Unfortunately there is only one way of quoting on the current platform design.

Guides and Reviews slow loading times - Closed. There was no issue found in the loading times of guides and reviews.

“View all” for posts and replies option on member profile - Closed. Unfortunately this option cannot be added to the member profile. 

Cant see if sent messages have been read - Closed. Unfortunately this feature cannot be added to the new messaging system.

Please please sort out this UNREAD post issue! I have answered 10 new posts this morning (give me a medal) but I have had to scroll through loads of already read posts to get to them. Quite ridiculous!

What is an image gallery and how do I view it?

An image gallery is a collection of images that you or another community member has uploaded (and chosen to share). Each community member who has permission to upload images has an image gallery. Your image gallery is also one of the pages from which you can upload images and is where you choose whether to share an image with other users.

You can view your own image gallery as well as the image galleries of other community members. When you look at another user's gallery, you see the approved images that the user has chosen to share.

To view your image gallery:

1. Click your user name at the top of any community page to go to your Profile page.
   A preview of your image gallery appears on the right side of your Profile page.
2. Click the View Image Gallery link.

To view another user's image gallery:

1. Click the community member's user name to go to that user's Profile page.
   A preview of that user's shared images appears on the right side of the Profile page.
2. Click the View Image Gallery link.

This does not work

Click on my username and my profile appears BUT NO IMAGE GALLERY

However, if I click on reply to ANY post then the list of icons appears

Click on the camera icon and takes me to page to add images - and on there is a link for my IMAGE GALLERY.

Is this now the only way that I can see my IMAGE GALLERY ?

This is not an improvement but a major step backwards.

Added to this, please look at the issues @Cleoriff has with trying to post images from her IMAGE GALLERY

White Room Quiz.

Today, I attempted to give answers; results; and awards for Wed WRQ.

I started to give results for Theresa but when posted it was all over the places.

Previously I have used cut and paste and have got everyone`s results and awards done in 15 minutes but today the new format doesn`t like cut and paste. It wouldn`t accept the old style stars and would not let me cut and paste Thinkers.

So had to delete everything I had done for results and start again with revised results and awards - without images for Thinkers.

This is a major disappointment.

But having seen the 150th WRQ and having celebrated the Second Anniversary of WRQ, and with the quiz being so popular and which I am so prod of I can say openly that I will not let Khoros and their New Format dictate what can and cannot be allowed on WRQ and no way will I let that excuse for a platform provider destroy, wreck or in anyway interfere with WRQ.

I may be the biggest technophobe of the Community but have a wealth of experience of website designs and admin of forums and know that the issues raised can be addressed to the satisfaction of users if the platform provider is willing and able to meet the customers - i.e. the members of this Community - needs.

EMOJIS

The new emojis is a joke.

- too many = we did not ask for, or need, the number now. To try and look for the emoji wanted means scrolling down countless unnecessary emojis

- too small = the size of the new emojis is so small it is impossible to make out what they are when scrolling thru the images and when posted are so small they cannot be made out and so are irrelevant to the post

- missing = some of the much used emojis are no longer there - e.g. the smashed computer and waving - which were well used under the old list of emojis.

SOLUTION - re-instated ALL of the old emojis in the former readable size and get rid of the ridiculous list of uncalled for and unwanted new emojis

You should be so lucky, @Mi-Amigo - those of us on mobile don't see Forum emojis, and adding mobile emojis stamps a green male symbol next to them - wonder if a female symbol goes against a female one?

Hey everyone apologies for the delay in replying, there was quite a lot to go through and I wanted to test a few things out as I went.

@jonsie The new text editor has a new emoji pack which contains all the familiar emoji’s you see in messaging apps and websites. The old animated ones are no longer available however if you go to the custom tab you can see the previous emoji pack we had on the community.  

We do now have the option to add custom emojis so we can look at bringing back a few of the classic old ones or making some of our own but I want to focus on getting the larger issues sorted out first so lets pick this up in a week or 2 once everything is running smoothly. 

For me any misspelled words are highlighted in red and can be fixed by right clicking and selecting the correct spelling. I can find out if the old style spell checker can be added to the new text editor. 

Thanks for you feedback @pgn. I’ll add the missing video option on mobile to the list. 

For the 2 reply buttons the top one is the option to reply to a post which is at the bottom of each post. The bottom one is to actually post your reply. I can request that the text is changed too “Post” to avoid any confusion. 

You mentioned having some issues with emojis on mobile. Are you on Android or iPhone? 

For the guide editing I think that’s just a setting that reset with the upgrade. I’ll look into it. 

@Cleoriff I’ve added an issue log at the bottom of the OP of this topic where you can check the status of what’s been reported so far. I’ve replied to your points below. 

1 The lead post will be removed from all pages apart from the first one like we had before. 

2 There are some issues with the unread posts and we are investigating 

3/4 Theresa is going to help you with your image upload issues. She will give you a shout via PM on this one. 

5 Yes it was a big change! We’re working to get things running smoothly so please bear with us. 

6 Please see my reply to @jonsie above re the emojis 

7 This is not something that will be changed. We want to avoid the new header being to cluttered which is why the links to your profile, settings and unread posts are now in a drop down menu. 

@Mi-Amigo I’ll add the image gallery issue to the list. That should be visible on your profile. 

I’m sorry that you had issues with posting the WRQ results. As the text editor is new you might need to adjust how you make posts. I’m more then happy to give you a hand getting the formatting right and adding in the thinker images. Please drop me a PM so we can discuss further. 

For the emojis you can use the tabs at the top of the emoji drop down to go to the different sections too avoid scrolling and I will look into increasing the size in posts.
