I have an old iPhone 6s which has been sitting in the cupboard. I have reset it so my mum can use it but when we put her sim in it says it needs to be unlocked. I have sent an unlock request to O2 but the form requires you to say which contract you are on - I don’t have one so put in my old contract type. I tried downloading the app so I could chat but that doesn’t work for non customers either it seems. Also tried to phone, no joy as recorded message says Bye. I thought phones were automatically unlocked after 18 months. I see lots of queries on here but no answers. I guess this reminds me why I left 02 but is incredibly frustrating. The phone belongs to me so please just tell me how to get you to unlock it.

Phones aren't automatically unlocked after 18 months. However, O2 haven't been locking phones since 2018so obviously the iPhone 6 came out before then. As you are no longer a customer, I will ask one of our account advisors to help. @O2Lisa can you help @Ali11 please.
@Ali11You will be contacted by @O2lisa via Private Message, You will see an envelope icon at the top of the page on the right hand side. It will show a 1) when the PM has been sent.
Best of luck.
