Help!

Bought my wife a new galaxy j5, put in her sim card but cannot send text,

(for about 4 years now when she turns on the old phone she has had to change the 'message centre number' from the auto set no - +447802092032 to +447802092035 to enable her to send text.)

BUT on when I put the sim in the new phone, I cannot highlight or change this number.

reading the web she could need an 'account specific sim card' but the local 02 shop don't know what I am talking about and said its a google account problem,

If I insert my sim, the correct number comes up!

I'm not too gadget friendly because i'm in the upper age group!

hope somebody can understand the problem and help us out

@Jane2022 Why have you waited four years to ask about this?

The solution is possibly as simple as getting a new sim card. If you go to the O2 store with identification, they will give you a new sim and swap it over for you, or you can request a new sim over the phone and do the swap yourself when you receive it: SIM Swap: a mini guide (incl eSim) - O2 Community

You can also reach O2 via social media:

@Jane2022

These are the message centre numbers for O2 contract sims and a different one for O2 PAYG sims

Open messages, settings and type in the message centre number :
Pay Monthly +447802000332
Pay & Go +447802092035

changing the number for 4 years was not the issue, with new technology when you get on in years, you do as you are told, the issue appears to be the wrong sim card, as previous comment, the local 02 shop is a waste of time, he wouldn't listen to me re - wrong sim, but said it was a google account issue!

as i said when you get on in years it gets very confusing.

@Jane2022

Make sure you have ordered the correct sim.

An account specific sim card means just that. One type for PAYG and a different type for monthly contracts.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
