USA Roaming issues with AT&T

Hi,

I have two brand new iPhone 14s on my account, both with O2 Travel bolt-ons. I use one phone, my wife uses the other.

We arrived in the USA on the 18th October and ever since, my phone has steadfastly refused to connect to AT&T, which appears to be the dominant network where we are.

My wife’s phone has connected to AT&T since we arrived and shows 3 bars of signal.

Mine will only connect to T-Mobile or Verizon, often showing as little as one bar, or even just SOS only.

I’ve tried all I know - hard reboot, reset network settings, cleaned SIM, all to no avail. Setting preferred network to AT&T doesn’t work.

I assume that it’s likely to be an account or SIM issue, which I’ll have to resolve when we’re back in the UK, but any pointers appreciated.

Thanks,

Simon.

@SPD O2 throttle their data speeds in the US to 500kbps. You'll be lucky to be able to check your email. You might want to consider getting a Pay & Go sim from AT&T or T-Mobile while you're there if you're staying for any length of time.

I’m sorry, but that doesn’t address the issue.

I’m not interested in data, I just want to be able to connect to AT&T.

Currently, I can only connect to Verizon and T-Mobile with this handset, with a weak signal.

The other phone connects to AT&T with a decent signal.

@SPD If you contact  O2 via social media they may be able to help you:
Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB), Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW), or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

I'm not quite sure how you're able to connect to Verizon at all.

@SPD

Some things to try:
1 - Reboot phone. (or toggle airplane mode).
2 - Manually search for a different network
3 - If using an iPhone, change data apn to "mobile.o2.co.uk"
4 - Turn off 4g (use 3g)
5 - Check with O2 for any roaming bars.
If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thank you for replying.

I’ve tried steps 1 to 3, can’t try 4 as I’m only offered 5G or 4G, so tried just 4G.

Waiting for O2 to get back to me, but difficult with time difference.

They suggested trying my wife’s SIM in my phone, but that won’t fly with her and nor should it.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the phone as I’m now out in the open and it’s hanging onto a T-Mobile signal.

I’ve asked O2 if they can issue an e-SIM, but not sure if they can do that whilst I’m abroad.
