Sim Lock code

Hi, I wish to put a lock on my sim card (upon startup of my Android mobile and NOT unlocking carrier handset) however when I go into my phone settings and into the relevant menu option it asked me to enter my pin for the sim card.  I tried a few possible known pins both which did not work.  I have one attempt left and don't really want to risk it.

How or what's the best way to either recover the code or somehow reset it?  Order a sim card replacement?  Will that work or is it somehow linked to the handset no matter what sim card I possibly use?

The default pin is usually 0000

If you enter the sim pin incorrectly 3 times you will then need your PUK. Enter the PUK and it will ask you to set up a new pin.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

This has worked.  Thank you.

Its in response to

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-62767659

Someone tried this and its worked.

I just did it without biometric unlock.

- Get a new device, (presumably thieves), pop the nicked phone's sms in it

- Download the santander app

- "Forgot my personal ID"

- use the details from the driving license + full card number to get your personal id

- "Forgot my password"

- use the details from the card number to reset the password

- receive the 2fa sms now you have the sim card,

- set the new password and log in
