Portugal roaming: No text messages

Hello everyone,

I am currently in Portugal and something very strange is happening.

- I cannot receive text messages sent from outside Portugal (this means UK services/websites that send OTPs, friends in the UK, etc).

- However, I get all messages from friends in Portugal (with UK and Portuguese numbers).

I can make/receive calls (UK / Portuguese numbers). I can send text messages (to  UK /  Portugal numbers) which are received . I can also use roaming data (4G).

Things that I have tried so far:

- Select 2 local networks manually (MEO and NOS)

- Tried the sim card in a different phone

- Restart the phone(s) - I have done it many times

- Confirm APN settings / restore default configuration

- O2 confirmed I have no bars and no spend cap (I removed the spend cap yesterday).

Any ideas what else to try?

Spend cap is irrelevant.

I am in Portugal and having exactly the same issue.  I contacted O2 who sent me a text code which arrived together with all my texts for the last day, but didn’t solve the issue permanently as I now have the same problem again. Did you manage to fix permanently?

@David123 No. The same thing happened to me. I received many text messages after they sent me one but the problem persisted. The social media team escalated the issue for further investigation. Fingers crossed but, to be honest, I am not very hopeful they will fix it.

I have exactly the same problem. Can't receive text messages sent from outside Portugal. Is there any update on a fix?
