On the off chance anyone knows, Samsung gt c3590, how to save SMS to phone not SIM

Just swapped my SIM to a fresh one whilst keeping the same handset, almost everything working fine except that incoming and sent SMS messages seem to be saving themselves to the SIM rather than to the phone's memory.

I suspect this is a "bad thing", the SIM has less memory than the phone, so not only would I have to delete more regularly but the memory (probably some type of flash storage) would wear out faster in the SIM from repeated reuse of the same flash memory cells (because there's less memory there so it won't take as many messages before it has to write to the same flash cell twice*).

*this is going to be the same principle of how USB memory and SSD will end up overwriting cells if you've saved to them, then deleted, sufficient bytes worth of data to have been greater than their capacity

Previously I managed, I cannot remember how, to make the phone save all incoming and outgoing SMS to the phone itself, not to the SIM, by default. Now all I can find is settings to transfer to-the-phone, one at a time, SMS messages which have already been saved to the SIM.

I know it is unlikely anyone will have this same model to hand, but I know I made this work before but can't find how to now. The one other difference I've noticed is that with my old SIM I had a "menu" item on the phone for some O2 related settings, now that menu item is gone since using the new SIM. Is this menu item perhaps the one where setting whether SMS gets saved to phone or SIM is set?

Otherwise, is there any chance anyone knows where the setting is, I've hunted through every sub menu and cannot find it. But know I had found it before.

Thanks

Usually the setting can be found by opening the messages app and tap the 3 dots on the top right of the app

You should see a settings option there with the option to save to the phone

Page 2 of the manual seems to suggest that a memory card is required and a manual back up to there is possible.
