Desperate for help. I have 3 phones that have moved from VM to 02. 2 of us are  In Greece and 1 is home. The one at home is working the 2 of us in Greece arnt. The sims arrived after we left to Greece. Spent 2 full half days on 02s useless online chat help. Of which I have saved convos as it was that bad. I haven't moaned I've been patient and I still can not get help. We are carers taking our first break and Desperately to to be able to communicate with stand in carers in UK. This it totally unacceptable and worrying to the point iys ruined our much needed break. Please can anyone help We have no data or telephone connection at all on both the phones.

@Maureen64 Let's see if I can make it clear for you. You need to have a physical O2 sim card, or an O2 esim in your phone. If you are in Greece and you don't have the O2 sim card, you cannot activate the account. In fact, even if you had the sim card with you, if you hadn't activated it before you left the UK it wouldn't work.

I wasn’t under the impression that it would take place if we were outside the UK if you read it. Like it STATES  on their site. Surly a company as big as 02 and Virgin would have someone with enough knowledge to know that people go on holidays and it would need to improvise for those that have. Small. No one shoe fits all except for durex for dickheads.

@Maureen64 If you knew you couldn't activate the sim if you were out of the country, and you didn't have the sim before you left, what is the point of this thread?

If you want to keep in contact with colleagues, friends or family while you're away, purchase a local Pay & Go sim and download WhatsApp. You can call, text, and video call over a WiFi connection to anyone anywhere in the world in your contacts list who also has the app for free.

Ty for your valuable input. You are so informative so can you explain this and I quote “ Your planned switch will not take place if you are abroad- but don’t worry we will try again next month. “

Sadly it has happened and nobody here or at Virgin can reverse the process.

For most people new SIM cards would not be required so if they tried to update a card out of the country the port would fail and be scheduled for the following month. If that fails then new SIM cards are sent out.

Not sure what has happened in your case, but I know they have identified some SIM cards that will have to be changed from the off.

But as I say nothing can be reversed now

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Thanks for you reply. I honestly thought if we were out of the country it would just remain with Virgin until next month. As how I read it Yes I did contact them before leaving UK and was told it would be ok.
