Hi
I have an issue where I lost a phone 2 weeks ago and for insurance purposes I need confirmation that O2 have barred the previous IMEI number
I have gone in shop, they said it was responsibility of phone company (e.g. apple). I have rang customer service and they have given me a usage report, but I am not closer to getting the previous blacklisted with confirmation.
Any help appreciated?

You will need to contact customer services again, and ask them to provide the standard insurance letter to say its been barred, although to be fair the Insurance could do it themselves a lot quicker.

Its an external insurers so I don't think they have power to blacklist a phone

The customer service department can provide proof of barring if you advise them to search knowledgebase for the form they will be able to do this.
In case you were to find the phone again and need it unblacklisted you would probably need PROOF OF PURCHASE to allow the company who barred the phone to unbar it as you have proven that you are, the person who holds the proof of purchase and legally owns the phone!
I BELIEVE THAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PROOF OF PURCHASE.
