Cannot receive SMS while in Thailand

hey all - I am currently in Thailand and need to get sms texts from banking apps [and others] to gain access. The registered mobile no on all these apps is my O2 no. However, I cannot get any SMS texts from the apps. I also tried sending texts from my local Thai mobile no to this no. But they did not arrive either. I cannot get text messages from other UK nos either.

The local network provider is AIS, which is automatically selected in 'Cellular' in 'Settings'.

I have ensured I can use my cellular data and roaming is on. Actually, I topped up my account with £10. But when I text 20202 with BALANCE the reply is that my balance is 0. Why is my phone tariff not getting updated? Could this be another symptom of some underlying problem? That my phone no is just not connected to O2 any longer!

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

We’re just customers like you but it sounds like you’ll need someone to access your account which can’t be done from here. If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this
Thanks

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Change the network selection to manual and choose either DTAC or TRUE

I always found AIS to be very poor
