Despite buying a bolt on to ensure good coverage I lost 4g today and received a message saying o2 had switched it off. What do I do to restore it?

First thing to do is reboot phone and check again.
If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.
