no signal for 4 days

Anonymous
Not applicable

I live in Calverton, NG14 and been with O2 for over 2 years - in fact upgraded contract to new phone a couple of weeks ago. Liost signal 4 days ago, wife complained via Live Chat, I have now been on Chat this evening with the following result

Welcome to O2. Someone will be with you soon.

You're through to 'Abby'

Abby: Hi I'm Abby. How can I help?

Paul: I live in the NG14 postcode area, been without signal for 4 days now, not impressed

Paul: just renewed contract, wish I'd gone to Vodafone

Abby: I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Abby: Let me check the coverage.

Paul: both my wife & I are on O2 as are our work phones, we had a major outage last year as well compensation doesn't really cut it

Abby: Paul, there is no problem in Coverage in your postal area.

Abby: Mast is working fine.

Paul: no signal and isnt for several miles

Paul: do you want me to send a pic of our phones showing no signal??

Abby: I'm sorry, Paul.

Abby: Can I have the model of your handset?

Paul: HTC One, Blackberry Bold 8900 and some older Nokias, suggest you send an engineer with a signal meter as they all show zilch

Paul: problem persists for 4-5 miles around Calverton

Abby: Are you able to make/receive calls?

Paul: with no signal? don't be silly

Paul: Our lad's vodafone Nokia 520 is our only mobile that works

Paul: my wife reported this a couple of days ago

Abby: Paul, I can see that Smartphones will not work in this postal area.

Abby: We don't have coverage in this area.

Paul: My work Nokia is NOT a smartphone, nothing on O2 works

Paul: This is ridiculous, I want a techie on the line

Abby: In this case, you need to dial 202(free of charge).

Paul: on an O2 mobile which has no signal??

I want this resolving, any O2 techies care to assist before I call & cancel my O2 contract due to breach of contract (no service).

Paul.

O2 don't give timescales for fixing the masts. It can depend on many different factors such as site accessibility permission, parts required etc. Once service has been restored contact customer service and they normally make a goodwill gesture for the length of time you have been without service.

In the mean time remove your sim and give it a clean to remove any static build up.

This may or may not help.

Lets hope your local mast is repaired soon.

I assume when you move to another location your signal returns.

Same issue, no service all week Woodborough NG14 6EF - had a similar conversation on line with support, very polite, not very useful - apparently it is being fixed but they do not know how long it will take...

I am having the same problem here in postcode area DL14 8LG along with many other people in the area, going onto 5 days now.  Checked network coverage and apparentley there is a mast down.  I am paying for a service that I am not receiving, I don't leave the house much due to disability, so what is the point of having this service.  Will I be entitled to a refund...and when will the mast be sorted?

strange coincidence - signal returned last evening about 2 hours after the chat session.....if there was a known fault how could the agent have checked & found it ok? Anyway, situation is resolved for now - last time it was out for 10 days so this is an improvement, right? Not!
