I have recently purchased a mobile phone contract from 02 and I gave them my pac number from my previous supplier they are send out a sim that has a different phone number to the one I previously had how do I get the original phone number

The guide you have been given (EDIT the guide in the next post) should help however to summarise the number O2 have given you is a temporary one. Once the PAC has been processed and the port completed your number from your old network will come across

A sim swap won't work in this case as you need to port in your number.
