I would like to leave o2 as I want to take a contract with another mobile provider. I require a PAC code in order to be able to retain my number

It would be better to call 202 rather than live chat who will give you the runaround and frustrate you for an hour and probably tell you to call in the end 

Good luck with your new network but make sure you get good coverage before committing to a contract. A better deal is no good if you have poor signal. Get a free payandgo sim online to check
