They were removed from standard contracts 2 years ago. There is now a bolt on if you want it.

Hello and welcome to the Community. We are all customers here.

As MMS are no longer included in contracts, and assuming you have a data allowance, there are numerous apps where you can send pics for free such as whatsapp (free for a year then 69p per year). There are many others. The only requirement is that the person you are sending them to has the same app.

Seems a bit mean spirited not to just take MMS out of the text message allowance at a rate of 3:1-5:1.  It would also (technically) reduce the load on the network - if I want to send a picture to anyone I tend to do it over e-mail - typically sending a 13+megapixel 2-4MB image over 3G, because there are no image resizing apps on my phone and I'm too lazy to download one.  Yet there are plenty of times where a small image MMS (automatically resized by the phone to be just a couple hundred KB at most) would be sufficient, but I won't do that because it costs a stupid amount of money.

Hi a_chir

Excellent point well made However over the last couple of years MOST contracts (assuming pay monthly) have moved to unlimited texts and therefore the multiples would be irrelevant.

Personally I don't use MMS because of cost. I would email or use a messenger service like whatsapp or bbm or kik all of which are free to use (whatsapp charge 69p per year from year 2) or send via email. I agree that MMS should be inclusive given the range of free alternatives.

I also agree mms should be included these days or certainly reduced from the absolute rip off cost of 40p each!!!
