My Virgin Media package deal, which included my O2 SIM, was coming to an end in April 2025. I was able to agree a new deal with them. The Virgin agent informed me about an O2 SIM card included as part of the package. I explained that I already have one and have done for some time via my Virgin Media package, and that I don’t need a second one. I was told its included and its free. I said I didn’t need a second free one. I was again assured it did not matter.
Fast forward a number of weeks now and I see I am being billed twice by O2 for 2 SIM cards. My original one I use and was happy to keep, and now this second one added to my new package which I didn't want.
I am trying to cancel this second SIM card / number with O2 but they want an early termination fee of £344.74! This is completely unacceptable!
O2 customer service just keep telling me I need to pay the ETF to get out of the contract. I did not sign up for it. The number has never been activated nor used.
Anyone know what the best way to solve this is? Thanks.

You need to speak to Virgin Media direct, on 0345 454 1111 and get them to cancel it and liase with o2..
O2 wont cancel it on your say so, as they dont know about the VM part, and as such they will charge you an ETF
Be very careful though as Virgin may increase your bill for VM, so it might be worth doing a VM complaint as well.

Yep, shall we say Virgin 'over enthusiastic' selling.
The new SIM was not needed to get benefits on your broadband.
I can see you ending up going round in circles on this.
