I need to change my address to order a new phone as i lost my old one but you need to send a code to your phone to change the address which of course i have lost, how do i get around this? can the code be sent to your email?

Hi @Anonymous how are you doing today? Did you manage to change your address in the end? Please have a look at MI5's advice above!
Additionally if you check the help page here, it recommends that you can also visit an O2 store in case you cannot receive the security PIN.
"If your device doesn't have a sim, you've not received it or your device has been lost or stolen, you'll need to visit an O2 store. Make sure you bring a passport or driving license with you."
